



Most white students at those schools are super wealthy and would rather deflect their class privilege by focusing on race. When Asians get on campus, they are desperate to be part of the in-crowd. Asians are disadvantaged in all 4 of those categories. Many people at top colleges come from wealth, or they have trained in a sport for a long time, or they are legacy students, or they get affirmative action. While that may be true for STEM subjects, the liberal arts are another story. Many Asians have heard from their parents that Ivy League and other highly selective colleges are basically places where you should aim for, that being Harvard educated makes you a genius, that you should be like the students at Columbia, etc.
